Iranian-American singer Loulou of Thievery Corporation - whose songs are sung in French, Persian/Farsi, and English - performing her Persian-Lounge song Omid in Farsi, (released in late 2002) live at Tim Festival 2006 in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. We just never get tired of her velvety voice. Enjoy!

Recently, a friend - whose name we can’t share with you, but we’ll call her Yassi in this post - told us a story that got us thinking.

You’ve seen him before. You’ve seen him in movies like: Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Legally Blonde 2, The Pursuit of Happyness, and in TV shows like: NBC’s Studio 60 on the Sunset, The Comeback on HBO, Hannah Montana, and The Gilmore Girls to name a few.

In our pursuit of Roya, we came across a bar - with a girl standing behind it, manning the guests. Her perfect cleavage only meant one thing: her breasts were designed by none other than plastic surgeon-du-jour, Dr. Rezai. As boob-girl kept herself in a state-of-constant-jiggle by mixing colorful drinks in what looked like Nambe crystal martini glasses - more girls made their way on to the dance floor. Dancing provocatively on every surface in sight, the girls stood covering every table top around.

Did you see the gorgeous Catherine Bell - previously of the USA Network’s hit-show JAG and currently playing the character of Denise in Lifetime’s Army Wives - on The View today?

Washington, DC - From the time of Persian Sarmatian female warriors to the enviable space-trip taken by Iranian-American Anousheh Ansari in 2006 - as the world’s first female non-astronaut-traveler/space-tourist - Iranian women seem capable of conquering it all.
We believe the Abjeez - slang for “sisters” in Farsi - are made of the same thriving genetic ingredients as they carry on the Persian tradition of perseverance, equality, artistic expression, and compassion through their pioneering yet organic fusion of Pop-Rock-Reggae-Persian-Flamenco acoustics.

We think - and we realize that this is pure speculation - that the slang Yiddish term, “Oy Vey”, which roughly means: “Oh No”, may very well have been created by, or at least derives from the Persian Jews.
The Farsi slang for “Oh No”, is “Ey Vay” - pronounced: ay-vaay - and is used as often and commonly amongst Iranians, as “Oy Vey” is in the Jewish community and beyond. We don’t care for conspiracy theories, but we found this worth sharing.
